The Youth Coalition is the peak youth affairs body in the Australian
Capital Territory. We are responsible for representing, promoting
and protecting the rights, interests and wellbeing of people
aged between 12 and 25 years and those who work with them.
The Youth Coalition is represented on many ACT Government Advisory
structures and provides advice to the ACT Government on youth
issues as well as providing information to youth services about
policy and program matters.
We actively promote the well being and aspirations of young people
in the ACT with particular respect to their social, political,
cultural, spiritual, economic and educational development.
As the peak body for both young people and those who work with
them, we work closely with both young people and youth services.
We engage in strong partnerships with youth services and actively
listen to and work with young people in all areas of the work
we do.
The Youth Coalition is committed to involving young people at
all aspects within the organisation. We have young people as
members of the Board and on staff. We also have ensure that all
of our reports and submissions are produced based on the views
of young people we consult with.

Without the youth peak bodies, young people would be left with
no formal voice on important issues and youth services would
be left without any funded body to organise networking, professional
development and disseminate information across all youth services.
