The Board of Governance
is the ultimate authority in the governance of the Youth Coalition.
The Board is responsible for the overall strategy and direction
of the organisation. This includes:
- Establishing guiding principles and policies
including the strategic direction of the Coalition
- Delegating responsibility and authority
to those who are responsible for enacting the principles and
policies and monitor compliance
- Ensuring staff and the Board are held accountable
for their performance
The management of day-to-day decisions are left
up to the Director who is accountable to the Board in respect to
these operational matters.
The Board is comprised of four officer bearers
and eight ordinary members. The four officers are the Convenor,
Co-Convenor, Treasurer and Secretary. The constitution of the organisation
also specifies that there must be at least two young people on
the Board.
Members of the Board are elected by the membership
of the Youth Coalition at the AGM which is usually held in late
November each year.
